My arrangement with myself is to write 1000 words or more each day, of fiction. My daily haikus and other poems don't count. My rants in this blog or in emails don't count. There have been times when this is easy. It is almost never hard, if I can start, but I am a wizard of procrastination. I count rewriting, when it is really re-writing. If I am putting things in new ways, rather than just boogering around with language that I have already written, it counts. I have to allow myself that. The strangest part is that it isn't a lack of ideas. I have more that sufficient ideas rattling around in my head. I hope that by making a list of them here, I will give myself some sense of accountability. That is, each day, I can say "Ah, I wrote 1000 words on (whatever)"
So, my current list of irons in the fire:
Irresistible - a novel or novella, depending. As of last night, I am closing in on the end of chapter two.
Camp Marguerite - a longish story, possibly for the summer lovin' contest.
Meat - highly fictionalized semi-autobiography
The Barn - an attempt to put one of my favorite fantasies into short story form.
Taylor's Mistake - an ongoing work of pretty much straight stroke fiction.
Smooth - a rare moment when a nerk rises to a level of smoove worthy of early Bond
Visare - erotic fantasy .. er .. smutty swords and sorcery
